Triad of Charlotte Street Female Entrepreneurs win awards at Women in Business Gala held in Baddeck!!
Sydney…The Sydney Downtown Development Association is elated to have three of its Charlotte Street female entrepreneurs win awards during the recent Women in Business Awards Gala held in Baddeck last week. The Gala presented by the Cape Breton Partnership and the Cape Breton University, Shannon School of Business, Small Business Development Centre in conjunction with Enterprise Cape Breton Corporation recognized the extraordinary contributions women in business from all over Cape Breton and Mulgrave make to the local economy.
Longtime business owner Marjorie Fougere- Finishing Touch Centre was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, Laura Lewis- Rascalz Kidz Clothing, Impact Award and Michelle Wilson - Timeless Moments Bridal Salon, Marketing. Congratulations are also extended to Christina MacArthur-MacKeigan- Cat and the Fiddle Café and Kitchen Party and Angela Penny- Sweet Biscuit Bath and Body who both were nominated for the Start Up Award and Carol Beaton- Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design for the Impact Community Capacity Building Award.

We know the great job they are doing and now the rest of the island is aware as well!” said Bruce Meloney media spokes person for the Sydney Downtown Development Association (SDDA). “Running a business is tough enough but these Gals have family, homes and husbands to deal with and all six are actively involved in the SDDA.”

"Take a Bite out of Downtown Sydney"
Sydney Downtown Development presents the 2nd annual EAT "Take a Bite out of Downtown Sydney". This event spanning a 2 week period May 15-29 will feature many specials from a quick snack to a full course diner. On Saturday May 15th one section of Charlotte Street from Pitt to Prince will be closed and a stage and food court set up. From 12-2pm there will be live stage entertainment and a huge food court with over 12 food vendors taking part. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Regional Hospital Foundation. This is a rain or shine event. Don't miss out!
